Negatives and photographs of roads and road construction, 1917-1921.

These are mostly 5" x 7" glass plate negatives, with a few 5" x 7" sheet negatives and photographs of roads in eastern upstate New York. The negatives and photographs show: machinery and vehicles used to construct or resurface roads; road work in progress; roads damaged by floods or in various states of disrepair; roads after improvements have been made; roads with various surfaces (macadam, concrete); new or experimental road signs; railroad crossings and underpasses; and scenes of automobile accidents.
